Altering Shoulders on Women's Jacket

Wed, 01/02/2013 - 01:36 - Tessa469

I am currently following your step-by-step course on altering jacket shoulders.  The problem I'm having is that the individual's shoulder is very narrow and the shoulder pads are at least 3.3cm thick.  I have to reduce the shoulder length by 5 cm .  Is this too much to take off the shoulder?

From the vid-adjusting adjust skirt length front and back patterns

Thu, 11/29/2012 - 20:01 - Innayah

 Hi,
I am abit confused as to the subtraction of the skirt length from the centre

front, side and centre back. When drafting the skirt pattern, i was under
the
impression that the skirt length is the centre front length (for the front
pattern) itself? Im not sure what is supposed to be subtracted from what.
Pls

I'd love to watch a coat sewing video

Tue, 11/27/2012 - 19:07 - cinthia6206

 Hi

I'm new to sewing and also English is not my first language but your videos are the best out there, no one compares to you and the level of detail and descriptions you achieve are just above my expectations but I do have something I'll like to ask you!!!!

Could you please add some videos for sewing a COAT step by step and maybe you would think I'm asking to much but also how to sew a HANDBAG with its lining and pockets and maybe a couple of videos of crocheting AMIGURUMIS would be amazing!

Fitting issues

Fri, 11/09/2012 - 21:29 - WOWMOM

Dear Nehzat,

At the risk of sounding too demanding, I was wondering if you have any plans to do lessons on fitting issues that arise in pattern making and their remedial measures in the drafting stages or the toile.  These would be of tremendous help to my (and hopefully many other members???) dressmaking techniques as well as pattern-drafting and I hope there is a place on your agenda for them.

Kind regards,
Di

Pattern Making & Drafting Video

Fri, 10/19/2012 - 10:41 - asmapoh

Hi Nehzat

1 )  May I know what is the purpose of having a dart on the centre of the back bodice pattern as shown in

the video chapter 5 of Pattern Making & Drafting?

2)   Are the front and back bodice patterns in this video good enough to make a sleeveless waist-length top?

Thanks.

Sleeve Block Pattern Diagram

Tue, 10/09/2012 - 10:12 - Denese

Hi Nezhat, LOVE, LOVE, LOVE your website! I've been a member for almost 2 years, and find that every time I come here, I learn something new and helpful. I am just wondering if there will be a Sleeve Block Pattern Diagram in the near future. I'm about to start making some shirts for my husband, and this would be very helpful. I've made his shirts from bought patterns in the past, but haven't been very satisfied. He's a big guy, and if I use a pattern that fits his shoulder width, the shirt is too small for him in his chest and waist. If I use one that fits his chest and waist they hang off his shoulders by almost 10 centimeters, and look really sloppy, but at least they're comfortable. I'm really looking forward to making a shirt pattern that will fit his entire body properly. Thank you again for such a wonderful website. Denese

Placement of initial alteration line for crotch adjustments.

Sun, 10/07/2012 - 21:26 - sewfashionista

I watched the pants alteration video but, I have problem trying to figure out exactly how many inches down from the waist of the original drafted pants pattern that the inital alteration line should be drawn. according to the pants alteration video, this line appeared to be a random palcement. I just want to figure out the best way to alter the crotch length. Any sugestions. I was just concerned that if the line is not drawn on the same location on front & back pattern, then the peices will not match once sewn together.

Jacket or coat video?

Sat, 10/06/2012 - 21:56 - ros_b

Hello!

I can't stop talking about your videos to family and friends.  As a novice sewer, your videos are not only extremely well shot, clear to follow, but they also highlight your incredible skill, attention to detail, which is also inspiring.

Any plans to have a video for making a jacket or a coat?  I have been trying my hand at two different patterns, both with a shawl collar.  I scoured the internet for a visual explanation of the clipping to a point in the collar, but came up with terribly difficult to see/hear videos on youtube.

Many thanks!

pants alterations

Tue, 10/02/2012 - 11:53 - bernd

First, your lessons are very professional and down to the point. Easy to follow. But all your pants alteration lessons are dealing with shortening pants/or slimming the waistline..how about letting them out, and making the waistline bigger - most people probably gain weight when they get older, and not lose it ;) I am really missing these kind of instructions!

thanks
