I'm doing the drafting videos for the bodice.  On video #19 it is the "Centering Shoulder Slopes & Aligning Armholes."

I'm one of those people that the New Shoulder Slope line falls on the Front pattern instead of the Back pattern.  I'm trying to understand how to transfer the new shoulder slope line from the Front to the Back.  The video says "open the fold on the Back shoulder slope and fold the front shoulder line slope.  Place the front shoulder line slope on the back shoulder slope to transfer the new slope line."

Maybe I'm over thinking this but I cannot figure it out.  Do I transfer with the pin method?  How?  But when I put the New Front Shoulder Slope on the Back Shoulder slope, is it on the line that we previously "x" out or the new line that we drew in previous video.  Also do I keep the dart folded on the Back pattern while I'm doing all this?

I'm so sorry to sound so confused but I don't quite know how to explain it.  I do wish that the video would have shown the process.  This is my first hiccup but I will not be defeated!   If anyone can understand what I'm talking about (poor you :), could you please help.  Thanks!

Re: Centering Shoulder Slopes & Aligning Armholes Issue

Dear Kim,

The shoulder dart on the back pattern should be closed when you do this. The new shoulder seam line that is on the front pattern is correct, the only thing that you need to do is copy it on the back pattern.

Since you fold the back shoulder slope, you now need to fold the front shoulder slope instead to be able to copy the new shoulder slope to the back pattern. Use the same pin method I showed. But insert the pin where the new shoulder slope crosses the front armhole line, instead of the back.

Let me know if my explanation is clear for you.

Happy sewing,

Nehzat
