I live in U.S.A. and I learned take measurements in inches, do the same formulas work when I am using inches to calculate the dart intake, neckline and armpitline? I would also like to understand why you divide by 9 when you are calculating the dart intake? Why do you divide the neck circum by 6? Also why do you divide the distance between the shoulder line and waistline by 3 to find tha armpit line? Why are these numbers use?

Re: Use of Formulas and Dart Intake Calculations

Dear Kry909,

Yes the Formulas stay the same, but working in cm does not have fractions so doing the calculating is much easier when using cm. If you buy a measuring tape that has cm on one side and inches on the other, you can easily convert inches into cm. it will also help you become familiar and start to use cm as well. Our next video lesson will be on this subject.

To find out why we divide by 9 to get the dart intakes you can watch the video: Why Do We need Darts. All these divisions are based on the average proportions of the human body, and will give you the best results.

Hope this helps,

Nehzat
