Size of hem and sleeve fold

I have sewn a blouse and I have folded both my hem and sleeve hem a 1/4" and then another 3/4".  I have hand stitched the hems as I prefer a finer look.  I have also added some decorative stitches to spruce up a plain blouse.

I am wondering if it is supposed to be the same or should the hem fold be wider than the sleeve foldImage.  What are the norms?

Dear Barbara,

You have made a good choice in doing the sleeve hems and the bottom hem of the blouse exactly the same since the hems are decorative they should look the same. If you did not want to decorate the hems you could have done the bottom hem wider.

If the bottom of your blouse was not straight just like some men's dress shirts that are curved, then you would have a narrow hem.
