 Hi Nehzat,

I would like to make a lining for my full figure skirt block pattern.

The abutted slit marks are at 23 cm and 30 cm from D on the center back line.  When I look at the directions for the lining directions, the mark is 18 cm from the hemline.  Should I just follow those directions and redraw the center back line as you do for the tapered and straight skirt and mark it at 18 cm?

Also on the tapered skirt center back line you marked 2.5 cm at the waist line, 2.5 cm at the bottom zipper and 6cm at the top of slit and 6cm at the hemline and connected the marks.

On the full figure skirt you mark 6 cm from the hemline, 6cm from the top of slit, and 2.5 cm at waistline and connected the marks.

If I do use the 23 cm and 30 cm for the abutted slit do I also mark 4.5 cm above the top of the slit, which is at the 30 cm mark, so I can draw the angle?  The 4.5 cm is what you used for the tapered skirt directions.

I watched and studied the videos several times but still could not decide which to do.

Thanks for your help,
Pat

Re: Full Figure Skirt

Dear Pat,

For the slit length and allowances for the center back seam on your full figure pattern you can use the same measurements and instructions from the skirt block pattern making (straight and Tapered) video lesson. Since that is the pattern we used in the skirt sewing video lesson. You can also use the instructions for the lining from the skirt sewing video lesson when marking the center back seam allowances and the abutted slit.

When adding the seam allowance at the center back you can use either instruction, they will both workout well.

If you are marking the top of the slit allowance at 30 cm which is 7 cm above the slit opening at 23 cm. Then you do not need to add the extra 4 or 4.5 cm at the top again. If the top of your slit is located 23 cm above the hemline then you can just add 4 cm above it for the allowance and draw the seam allowance line from there. As long as you add between 4 and 7 cm it will work.

Happy sewing,

Nehzat
