Footing Issues !

 Hi Im a beginner and I am having issues with the footing of my sewing machine. After pressing the foot lever down my fabric is stuck! I cant move it under the lever =/ I don't know what to do. Can I get some help? Btw it's a Kenmore... O Yes btw what's the importance about the string tension dial?

In the sewing machine essentials video lesson I explain how to use 3 different types of sewing machines. Your machine will be similar to one of these three. I suggest that you watch this lesson to learn how to use your machine.
