Hello,

I am making a  sleeveless, light cotton top. when I interface the fabric it looks stiff, and unnatural. I would like a softer look for this top ( the yoke ).

I am using an iron-on, light weight non-woven poly blend.

Is there anything else that I could use to achieve a softer look?

Thanks.

Hi Veronica, Some light

Hi Veronica,

Some light weight knitted iron on interfacings do not have straight lines, they look more like lace. This type of interfacing is very good for very light fabrics, and the glue does not seep trough the fabric and become visible from the right side. They also give body to the fabric without making it stiff.

You can also use light weight fabrics like organza or fine cottons to reinforce the yoke. Sometimes I also use synthetic chiffons to achieve a soft look. If possible you can use the same fabric as the top to line the yoke, if doubling the fabric does not affect the result you want.

Hope this helps.

Thanks Nehzat

Thanks Nehzat,

I will try these options for a softer reinforcement.

I appreciate your help.
